In those conditions, a little extra warning would be nice.
Also, a little less four-wheel-lockup would help, too.

Fucking Comcast. Also, people need to slow down in the snow.

It wouldn’t of cost anything to have a sign at the top of the road, nor would it of cost anything for the second guy who came to put his truck at the top of the hill partially on the verge to make traffic slow.
But ultimately people should be driving to the conditions (ie weather and road condition).

I would have called local police to come direct traffic, they really love doing stuff like sitting around in their cars or doing easy filler jobs. They would show up in under 2 minutes, probably end up in the ditch, then direct traffic once it all piled up.

Exactly. Incompetence all around. The Comcast guys obviously, but also the drivers for driving their vehicles too fast for the conditions. Do they use winter tires there?

There has GOT to be some safety hotline to call. I have a feeling some compliance guy would have a fucking field day with this.

It was pretty damn bad yesterday. I mean, I was able to just slide around and such, but it really was incredibly slick.

Plenty of blame to go around on this one and I don’t blame the Comcast guy for having his truck in the road for protection, but the cones should have been setup asap. As for the drivers, they are responsible to maintain control of their vehicles, no you don’t expect to see a truck in the road as you crest a hill, but the conditions look to be clear for visibility so I would think the truck is visible in time to slow down, but if the drivers are driving too fast, then they’re kind of hosed. So both sides could’ve down things differently to make the situation safer for all involved.

People driving too fast mixed with a guy who obviously hates his job and other people. And all so people can zone out and watch crap television. That’s a nice snapshot of America right there.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

I get that he wants the truck there to protect him, but a few cones 40 feet behind the truck is not enough in those conditions. Especially since he’s blocking an entire lane of traffic on a two lane road. I’m surprised there wasn’t any head on collisions. With las conditions like that police should have been scene. Or they could have put some flashing lights at the top of the hill and in front of the on coming traffic.
Also I could be wrong, but in my CDL training,(I only have my permit) the kind of warning they’re giving is only appropriate if they’re truck was on the shoulder not blocking traffic.

But then the guy would have to do something not asked of him. Can’t have that. These are the types of people I think of when I hear hillbillys complain about Mexicans taking their jerbs.

I can’t make out the plates but maybe it’s someplace that doesn’t get much snow or if it’s the first major snow people just haven’t put winter tires on yet.
Although that squarebody smashing into the Passat is a pretty good demonstration of the benefits of both ABS and not driving like a dickhead, especially in the snow.

Oh my god that made me so mad. If I lived along there I would’ve gotten into whatever was the biggest vehicle I had and rammed there stupid trucks into the ditch.

I hate those people, ‘it’s not my job’.
We had a cleaner recently who came in at 5am to get the home shopping vans clean. His job was to clean any spills on the shop floor as priority. But when asked would reply, ‘I clean vans, that is why I’m in at 5am, not my problem till the vans are clean’. Thankfully he left to work for a bad delivery company.

I’m in the U.K. so not sure about winter tyre use over there but here in the U.K. most people drive on all-season tyres and we rarely get large amounts of snow, when we do it brings traffic to a stand still but by and large most people start to plan there journeys and change to road conditions. It’s by not means the rule and there are still idiots out there who think they are a special snow flake and do what they want which cause accidents road traffic collisions.

We don’t get much snow here in the Netherlands either. There are years we never get the amount of snow shown in that video. I do have snow tires on my daily though, and my company car has them too. I chose to get snow tires for my DD because I drive in Germany a lot, and they’re mandatory (under certain conditions) there. I’ll also be in Austria in less than a month, way up in the Alps.

I manage a small business, and know the exact attitude. We all hustle, and people like that don’t last long here. We have some big corporate clients, and dealing with their employees can be a PIA sometimes, as a lot of them have that attitude.

Ye’, I never encountered any snow when I lived in Holland.
No actually saying that, there was a brief flurry in Helmond one morning but nothing at all up the road in Veghel.
I remember because Petry (or however it’s spelt) was doing hand brake turns in his Twingo Mk1 in the Domeco car park that morning.

Ye’, without wanting to shout at them, ‘there is something needs cleaning, your a cleaner, what do you mean it’s not your problem, clean it’.
((there are cleaning and floor machines we’re not allowed to use, unless trained or have a key to use. In the past I’ve taught myself to use these machines and my bosses have been understanding when I’ve said, ‘either I use the machine and get it done or it doesn’t get done’, and let me get on with it. But now all have keys switches and I can’t rig them with a screw driver anymore)).
We have one Hungarian female cleaner who’s fantastic and was going to leave because of that Polish cleaner, the boss on finding out, gave her his hours and moved him to hers and he left. We were happy all round.
